Your BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment
When you visit our office for BOTOX Cosmetic, you can anticipate a relatively quick, straightforward appointment during which your comfort, safety, and satisfaction are our highest priorities.
We begin by gently cleansing your face to clear away oil, makeup, and other debris. We then make a series of quick injections in or around your primary areas of concern. We may ask you to make certain facial expressions during this time to ensure accuracy. Each injection lasts only a moment and feels like a small, quick pinch. Afterward, we offer you a cold compress to help minimize swelling.
You can expect to be at the office for about 30 minutes. Immediately following your treatment, you can resume nearly all of your regular activities. However, it's important to avoid movements that require you to bend forward or lower your head for the remainder of the day. This allows the product to distribute evenly for attractive, natural‐looking results.
Complementary Treatments
BOTOX Cosmetic is often performed on its own, but it can also be a wonderful accompaniment to other non‐surgical treatments. For example, it's popular to combine BOTOX Cosmetic with dermal fillers to add volume to the face while fading wrinkles. This procedure is often called a "liquid facelift" and can be effectively performed without anesthesia or recovery time.
The results of BOTOX can also complement the skin‐clearing results of laser skin rejuvenation. During your consultation, your practitioner discusses your options with you to help you decide whether a complementary treatment is likely to give you the results you want. Common Questions
What's the difference between BOTOX and fillers?
Dermal fillers and BOTOX injections share similar goals — minimizing facial lines and wrinkles — but work very differently to achieve those goals. Fillers are smooth gels that add volume to wrinkles and lines — such as the nasolabial folds — that develop as facial tissue under the skin deteriorates. The wrinkles targeted by BOTOX injections are called "dynamic" wrinkles because they're caused by the repeated contractions of tiny facial muscles. These contractions occur when we smile, laugh, grimace, express surprise, or make any other facial expression. BOTOX works by temporarily preventing the nervous system from sending signals to these muscles, ensuring they remain relaxed.
Will I look "frozen" or unnatural?
Many of the men and women we treat with BOTOX voice concerns about not being able to change facial expressions. In the hands of experienced and skilled injectors, BOTOX can produce subtle but noticeable results, without looking unnatural. Even though BOTOX treatments are relatively straightforward, it's still important to choose board‐certified specialists to perform the injections.
How much does BOTOX cost?
The price of BOTOX treatments varies based on a number of factors, including the amount used to address a patient's concerns, the experience and training of the injector, and the geographical location of the practice where you get treated.
Will BOTOX stop working after multiple treatments?
One of the most common questions we hear is whether it's possible to develop a resistance to BOTOX after having multiple treatments. It is a possibility, but not something we see often. The effects of BOTOX injections typically last between 3 and 4 months, so patients do need to get periodic injections to maintain the results.
